Ross Revenge / All Day Party

Am 30. Juli 2004 wurde die Ross Revenge von Rochester nach Tilbury verlegt (mein damaliger Bericht). Eigentlich war nur ein kurzfristiger Aufenthalt geplant aus dem dann aber zehn Jahre wurden. Erst am 31. Juli 2014 konnte die Ross Revenge nach langwierigen Verhandlungen mit Hafenbehörden, Versicherern und Schlepperfirmen Tilbury verlassen um in den frühen Morgenstunden des 1. August 2014 im Fluss Blackwater bei Bradwell vor Anker zu gehen. Von Oktober 1993 bis August 1995 hatte das Schiff an fast identischer Stelle schon einmal auf Reede gelegen.
Am 5. April 2016 hatte ich Gelegenheit von Bradwell aus einige Fotos zu machen. Dieses Mal lag die Ross Revenge aber deutlich weiter vom Ufer entfernt als 1993/1995, so dass ich ein starkes Teleobjektiv nutzen musste.
On July 30, 2004 the Ross Revenge was relocated from Rochester to Tilbury (my report at the time). Only a short-term stay was planned which turned out to be ten years in the end. After lengthy negotiations with port authorities, insurers and tug companies the Ross Revenge finally left Tilbury on July 31, 2014. In the early hours of August 1, 2014, the ship reached its destination in the River Blackwater near Bradwell. From October 1993 to August 1995, the ship had already been situated on almost the same spot.
On April 5, 2016, I had the opportunity to take some photographs of the ship from Bradwell. This time, however, the Ross Revenge lay farther away from the shore than in 1993/1995, so I had to use a strong telephoto-lens.

Der Mündungsbereich des "Blackwater" steht unter dem Einfluß von Ebbe und Flut, so dass sich die Ross Revenge regelmäßig um ihre Verankerung dreht.

Der Name "Radio Caroline" hat für viele Briten noch immer eine besondere Bedeutung. Es war deshalb keine schlechte Idee im Sommermonat August im Ferienzentrum West Mersea daran zu erinnern, dass diese Station auch weiterhin existiert. Ich hatte Gelegenheit im Laufe des Tages einige Male auf der Veranstaltung vobeizuschauen und nach langer Zeit wieder einmal vertraute Gesichter begüßen zu können.
The name "Radio Caroline" is still of special significance for many Britons. It was therefore not a bad idea to organize an August-summer-event in the holiday hotspot West Mersea to remind people that this station still exists. A few times during the course of the day I had the opportunity to visit the event. It was a great pleasure for me to say hello to familiar faces I had not seen for a long time.

Über den Tag verteilt kamen immer wieder neue Besucher um die verschiedenen Informationsangebote zu nutzen.
Over the course of the day a steady stream of new visitors showed an interest in the different information offers.
Neben den Angeboten von Radio Caroline gab es mehrere Verkaufs- und Informationsstände lokaler Gruppen und der RNLI.
In addition to the offers of Radio Caroline there were several sales and information stands of local groups and the RNLI.

Etwas versteckt hinter der Bühne konnte man eine interessante Seesender-Ausstellung besichtigen. Darunter auch einige seltene Stücke wie z.B. Caroline Transistor Radios.
